On August 18, 2005, the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 1175/2005, amending the President's Decree No. 1008/2005 of June 30, 2005 regarding Ukrainian visa requirements for citizens of the United States of America:

U.S. citizens no longer require a visa to enter Ukraine for tourism or for business provided the duration of stay does not exceed 90 days.

U.S. citizens who are entering Ukraine with the purpose of employment, permanent residency, to study, to work, as part of a diplomatic mission of the United States or with any other purpose will be required to obtain a visa prior to entry. U.S. citizens will also be required to obtain a visa if the duration of stay in Ukraine will exceed 90 days.

If you need a visa you must contact the Embassy or Consulate nearest you. As of March 15, 2012 a personal appearance is required.
