U.S. Passport holders who were formerly Afghanistan citizens may enter Afghanistan for a short stay, without a visa. The period of stay is determined by the Afghanistan Immigration Authorities upon arrival.

The Embassy of Afghanistan typically issues a single entry tourist visa valid for entry for 3 months from the date of issue, for a stay in Afghanistan of up to 30 days.

The Embassy of Afghanistan typically issues a single entry long stay business visa valid for entry within 3 months from the date of issue, for a stay of up to 90 or 180 days.
