Letters of Explanation should include the following information:
 

• Addressed to the U.S. Department of State
• State the name of the applicant
• State the reason why you do not have an itinerary or proof of departure
• State the earliest possible date of departure (if you may travel at any time, indicate an approximate date)
• An original closing signature
