For Chinese Visa purposes, Hong Kong is considered a separate principality and not a part of mainland China. American citizens do not require a Chinese visa to enter Hong Kong.

Applicants may not apply for a Chinese visa more than 90 days in advance of the date of entry stated on your visa application.

The Chinese visa is valid for either 3, 6 or 12 months. You may enter at any time during the Chinese visas validity. The Chinese visas' duration of stay is typically 30-days per entry. Your Chinese visas' duration of stay begins the day you enter China.
